TWINPLAST
PUT THEMSELVES TO THE TEST
When
Twinplast, manufacturers of plastic corrugated packaging, submitted
their products to PIRA for testing it was to be another example
of the Watford-based company's serious and thorough approach to
developing and maintaining the highest standards of accountability
and
their willingness to put those standards on the line.
Twinplast's
Managing Director David Holladay commented: "The object of the exercise
was to identify areas for further improvements in product performance.
We were particularly encouraged by the results, in which our products
were submitted to a number of tests including flexural rigidity
and load carrying capability of our Transit multi-trip boxes."
Twinplast
board performed particularly well in jog tests, which were specially
developed by PIRA for Twinplast products. Samples were suspended
by their handles from a bag jog device operating at 120 cycles per
minute. During the test weights were added minute by minute. One
sample achieved a load of 76kg in 85 minutes before the test was
stopped to avoid damage to the lab and test equipment
with no failure
of the sample occurring.
In
July 1999 Twinplast - who have been at the forefront of the development
of environmentally sensitive packaging products and in particular
their totally recyclable multi-trip packaging - put their environmental
accountability to the ultimate test by successfully applying for
the international ISO 14001 standard.
Regarded
as the leading standard on environmental management systems, ISO
14001 sharpens competitive edge by functioning as a visible demonstration
of a commitment to implementing and maintaining sound environmental
policies.
Further
proof of Twinplast's commitment through systems and training
they
also hold the ISO9002 Quality Standard and the Investors in People
Award.
